By purchasing, accessing, or using this manual (the “Manual”), you acknowledge and agree to the terms below on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, your employer or organization.
1) Authorized Use Required for Operational Application
Purchase of the Manual is not restricted. However, operational application of SHIELD Rapid Triage™ is permitted only for individuals who have (a) completed the required Key Operational Insights, LLC (“K.O.I.”) training and (b) been issued an individual SHIELD Rapid Triage™ User Authorization ID, under an active SHIELD Rapid Triage™ licensing agreement. Use of SHIELD Rapid Triage™ by untrained and/or unauthorized individuals is prohibited.
Users who apply SHIELD Rapid Triage™ in operational settings should document their SHIELD Rapid Triage™ User Authorization ID in organizational records or reports as verification of authorized use, consistent with applicable policy and confidentiality requirements.
2) No Training or Instruction Rights
Purchase of the Manual does not grant any right to train, teach, certify, or otherwise instruct any person on SHIELD Rapid Triage™. Training may be delivered only by K.O.I. or by a K.O.I.-approved Authorized Instructor pursuant to a separate written agreement.
3) Intellectual Property; Copyright; Reservation of Rights
SHIELD Rapid Triage™, including the Manual and all related materials (including scoring frameworks, worksheets, protocols, instructions, templates, examples, and training content), are proprietary to K.O.I. and are protected by copyright, trademark, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved. No ownership interest is transferred by purchase of the Manual.
4) Prohibited Copying, Distribution, and Transfer
Except as expressly permitted in a written license agreement with K.O.I., you may not, and you agree not to:
Copy, reproduce, scan, photograph, upload, post, display, distribute, email, or transmit the Manual or any portion of it in any format (print, digital, or otherwise);
Share the Manual or its contents with any third party, including coworkers, contractors, affiliates, partner agencies, or external parties;
Create derivative works, modifications, summaries intended to replicate the tool, translations, or adaptations;
Reverse engineer or recreate SHIELD Rapid Triage™ scoring, criteria, worksheets, or decision thresholds for redistribution or internal replication;
Resell, sublicense, lend, or otherwise transfer the Manual to another person or entity for operational use.
5) Permitted Limited Use (Personal Reference)
Unless otherwise restricted by an applicable K.O.I. license agreement, you may use the Manual for personal referenceand professional development. Any operational deployment of the SHIELD Rapid Triage™ tool must comply with the Authorized Use Required section above and with any active licensing agreement.
6) No Risk Assessment; No Prediction; No Professional Advice
SHIELD Rapid Triage™ is an intake screening and prioritization method. It is not a risk assessment instrument and does not determine the likelihood of violence, provide probability metrics, or predict outcomes. The Manual does not provide legal, clinical, medical, or other professional advice. Users are responsible for applying professional judgment and following all applicable organizational policies, legal requirements, and emergency procedures.
7) Compliance, Enforcement, and Remedies
Unauthorized use, copying, distribution, instruction, or dissemination may result in revocation of Authorized User status and/or licensing rights (if applicable) and may subject you and/or your organization to contractual remedies and other legal relief available to K.O.I., including injunctive relief and damages as permitted by law.
8) ADA Training Accommodation
K.O.I. will make good faith efforts to accommodate training participants who request reasonable modifications in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable law, consistent with K.O.I. training policies and scheduling feasibility.
9) Acceptance
By purchasing, accessing, or using this Manual, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this disclaimer and all applicable K.O.I. licensing and authorized-use requirements.
